About
The GLBTA Student Scholarship Fund was established in 1998 by University of Minnesota alumni, faculty, and staff. The Fund awards up to three $1,000 scholarships every academic year.
Applications are sought from persons of diverse backgrounds, particularly those from traditionally underrepresented communities and demographic groups. Award recipients will be acknowledged at Lavender Celebration & Awards Ceremony.
Guidelines
One applying for the GLBTA scholarship must be:

Enrolled at a University of Minnesota campus during the 2007 - 2008 academic year

GLBT identified, from a GLBT-Family, or pursuing GLBT Studies

Not a former U of M GLBT Student Scholarship Fund recipient
-
Not a former or current P-Fund Minnesota GLBT Scholarship Fund recipient
Awards are:

To be applied to tuition, books, fees, or dissertation expenses

Valid only for the 2007 - 2008 academic year

Reported to Financial Aid Office as a scholarship
The Fund uses the following criteria to determine scholarship recipients:

Applicant's affirmation of GLBT identity (either their own or within their family context) or commitment

Evidence of significant service and leadership

Evidence of serving, leading, and working for change in GLBT communities, including being a role model, mentor, and/or advisor.

No applicant will be eliminated from consideration due to lack of opportunities to participate in GLBT activities.
